Review: Pyramids On Mars - Echo Cosmic
Today I’m discussing the band you need in your life right now.
Pyramids On Mars is the band led by Kevin Estrella that describes itself as “tunecore”,
I would rather call it “genre-bending”.
Kevin Estrella can be named in the same list with the likes of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and David Gilmour. You would say ‘wow, that’s a great guitar player’. If you would have known him. Shamefully, that’s the thing. Kevin Estrella is probably the most criminally unknown guitar player on the planet.
With the new release “Echo Cosmic” coming out on September 8th, 2015 they continue to blow minds and bend genre. The last I can explain by using two completely different bands in one sentence. This band accelerates from Iron maiden to Meshuggah in about 2 seconds.
This release marks a new landmark for the band. I still hope they get more widely known to people. It is as I said above. This is the band you need right now. Put this on your headphones and let Pyramids On Mars space you out. Sit back and enjoy while “Echo Cosmic” blows ‘Battle of Rome’ though your ears and you are just sitting in your lazy chair like, WOW! Mind blown!
The title track ‘ Echo Cosmic’ takes you down memory lane while you are thrown back to Pink Floyd area guitar work. While listening you will often find yourself in a really sleepy mood. This is normal and you should give in to that feeling. Take a nap while listening to the new Pyramids On Mars and guaranteed you will wake up reborn.
The only thing I didn’t like about this album is the drums in the mix. It just feels a little “fake” in the song structure. Overall this record is mind bending and goes beyond what is being made nowadays. Pyramids on Mars blows borders of metal and rock away and leaves you with a satisfied feeling.
Rating 9/10.
