Live review: Children Of Bodom, Sylosis, 30 November 2015 at 013, Tilburg, The Netherlands

We all have the attacks in Paris still in mind, and (understandably), some bands cancelled their tours thereafter. So done also by Lamb of God, who toured this fall with Children of Bodom and Sylosis. The original concert was then cancelled pretty last minute, what left many fans rather upset. Good thing, though, that Finnish Children of Bodom and British Sylosis decided to continue the tour, and played about 1,5 weeks later the concert in Tilburg. An evening of Melodic Death Metal, what else could one wish for?

The evening was kicked off by Sylosis, who played a great, brutal, very intense set, circlepits included. Loved it! The guys had strong power and energy on stage. Definitely a band to check out if you don’t know these guys!

Headliner of this evening was Children of Bodom. The band played despite singer Alexi Laiho coming down with a flu, which was great and definitely softened everyone for the first cancellation. The evening was filled with classics and new songs from “I worship chaos”. The set was kicked off by “Are you dead yet?”, which set the audience immediately in a great mood, and made everyone scream with Alexi in the Chorus. Followed by that was “In your face”, and then the first single from the new album, “Morrigan”. Great! “Halo of blood”, the title track of the previous record, followed next, and then the calmer piece “Every time I die”. Afterwards it was time to turn the volume up again with another classic and one of my personal favorites, “Bodom beach terror”. In line with this, other classics followed, namely “Hate me!”, “Lake Bodom” and “Blooddrunk”, before it was time for another new song, “I worship chaos”. With that, the evening slowly came to an end, with three more regular songs, “Angels don’t kill”, “Hate crew deathroll” and “Bodom after midnight”, and one encore, “Downfall”.

Overall, the Finns did not disappoint, and the die-hard fans (like me J) got all the classics and new stuff they anticipated. The guys, together with Sylosis, provided a great evening for everyone in a packed small hall in 013. Definitely looking forward to seeing them again live!
