Live review: Russkaja at Tolhuistuin, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 30 October 2015

So, Friday the 30th of October I went to Amsterdam to review a unique band, that can only be described as "Russian ska-polka metal". Got there a bit late because my train was 15 minutes late and I got lost, but I still was on time to watch the show, and I'm really glad for that.

People where drinking, talking, practicing their dance moves and having a good time until the band started to play. The entire crowd went silent at this point!

At the second song half the crowd was dancing and you could see that the band was really into it by then!

During the set the crowd and the band got more and more enthusiastic, and one guy even brought a tractor and held it in the air, hoping they would play "Psychotractor", and when the crowd was warmed up and ready to go, they did, and nobody could stand still by then. Even the bartenders and security started dancing! after a song or two, including a Michael Jackson cover (!) you could hear a van Halen-like guitar solo, and the singer announced that "This song is for the headbangers out there. ENERGIA!". I couldn't stand still myself, so I decided to crowd-surf with the rest of the people, and MAN, What a blast.

By this time it was starting to get really warm in the room, so the band decided to play a slower love song to help us cool off for the next song. After the show was over, everyone had a grin from ear to ear.

As we where walking towards the exit, I noticed the band standing there and I couldn't pass up this opportunity to thank them for the great show and give the singer (who was very shy) a big hug.

If you have the chance to see them, do it, you won't regret it!
