Nefastis: new album for free download

Long awaited Nefastis' new album has just been released! The opera in four acts is seeing the light after four months from it official release date, because of vicissitudes due to My Graveyard Production's desertion.

The band from Milan took a very important decision, up with times and in the spirit that bonds the group to the passion for their music. “De Diebus Fastis Nefastis Infaustis”, this the new album's title, is available for free download from the official band's website, where it will also be possible to buy the Digipack CD.

Here are Simone Colombo's own words (guitar/vocals):

“When our label abandoned us, for never specified reasons, it has been tough. But we rolled up our sleeves and we accomplished all of the obligations and shows lined up. During our shows we received many praises and lots of recognition from new and old fans, so we said to ourselves "Fuck it, if they appreciate the new material, let's make the whole album available to anyone!" and we decided to let it be downloadable for free from our website.

We never aimed to make money with music, we simply want our art to be spread around and hopefully to be appreciated, if not loved. This way, without any pressure from labels, we can reach as many people as possible around the whole world!"

The band recorded at their own studios, mixing and mastering were instead completed at 16th Cellar Studio in Rome, under the expert and attentive eye of Stefano Morabito (Hour Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Agony face).

12 are the tracks of the new record:
1. Black and Demons
2. Under my Scars
3. Napalm Asphalt and Violence
4. Last Days of Autumn
5. Cold Wind
6. Grave of Ice
7. Stream of Consciousness
8. First Fear
9. Morning Shadows
10. Synthetic Plague
11. Fucked by Alcohol
12. Facing New Demons

Free streaming of Synthetic Plague, second single from the latest effort of the band, is besides available at this address.

Black doom Éohum post teaser video for debut album 'Revelations, Aurora of An Epoch' due out april 7

Formed in 2010 from the mind of guitarist / writer Jeremy Perkins, Éohum (pronounced ee-o-um) brings together some of the most dark and groove oriented metals of heavy low end doom riffs to meet black metal atmospheres. With shredding guitar tones uplifted by the French horns plus a touch of clean breaks with beautiful lyrics and vocals, Éohum expand their style within the relentless drive that surround a new air, a new sound, an attempt to join forces with eco-awareness and spirit for their upcoming debut album, 'Revelations, Aurora Of An Epoch', which will be made available as a pay what you want release via Perkins' indie label Mycelium Networks.

"April 7th we unleash our first beast, 'Revelations Aurora Of An Epoch' and it will give everyone a good idea of what Éohum has to offer. A storm of relentless black, doom and death metal embark together on a ship of progressive madness. With guests like Matt McGachy on this album, one can enjoy a multitude of arrangements with its original sound, which we are so proud to share with the world, but this is just the beginning!" comments Perkins.

The release features a collective of musicians that includes guest vocals from Matt McGachy (Cryptopsy) (Tracks 3-4-5-7), Lana Edwards (Intro & Outro), Phillippe Rieder (Track 6), Nick Wybo (ex-Vinyl Hero) on drums, Annie Perreault on French horn/trumpet, Sylvain Dumont on guitar, James Heymans on bass and Perkins himself on guitar plus a live line up that includes drummer Simon Mackay (The Agonist) and vocalist Barrie Butler (ex : Tard).

“I like to have guests and friends from the scene on the album it gives a great touch and makes our stuff evolve and progress tremendously. The album should be received as fresh meat on the slab, especially with a French horn with groove doom low ends that makes the Éohum sound stand out.” says Perkins.

With so much talent from various backgrounds, Éohum blend the most gruesome with the cleanest of black and doom metal to create hypnotic riffs with seducing horns ready to be injected into the veins of metal fans.

“Musically ‘Revelations, Aurora Of An Epoch’ gives a great opportunity to taste a different aspect where you can chill out to a doom song and get up and swing your 4 foot long hair to our blackest riffs a second later in this relentless progression. Expect a groove and good sounding black metal without the new age tech-metal touches, we stick to the root, but with a better sound than black metal is usually attributed too and some doom to make your day.” Perkins adds.

Éohum is recommended for fans of Emperor, Immortal, Therion, Dimmu Borgir, Deicide, Neurosis, Behemoth.

Acherontas stream new album at

Today, Greek black metal vanguard Acherontas stream the entirety of their highly anticipated fifth album, Ma IoN (Formulas of Reptilian Unification) - released today via W.T.C. Productions - at Terrorizer magazine's website. Since their metamorphosis into a new entity in 2007, these Greeks have staunchly upheld the magick 'n' mysticism of classic, second-wave black metal. Over the course of four, increasingly ambitious albums - capped by Amenti - Ψαλμοί Αίματος και Αστρικά Οράματα, released in 2013 by W.T.C. to international critical acclaim - Acherontas have explored vast vistas of the imagination with a potently kaleidoscopic style of black metal that ably bridges traditionalism and the avant-garde. Now, with Ma IoN (Formulas of Reptilian Unification), the band continue their creative ascent by paradoxically descending deeper into the depths of the occult underworld. Across 11 expansive tracks in a time-evaporating 70 minutes, Ma IoN explores a wide swath of sonic territory, ranging Acherontas' characteristically windswept style of songwriting to twisted 'n' twisting variations of it to, most crucially, ritualistic soundscapes comprising ancient Far Eastern & shamanic instrumentation. Taken together, it's a total sensory experience that effortlessly guides the listener across chilly night skies, barren desert plains, humid marshlands, and the fiery abyss of the unknown. In their never-ending quest to seek the deepest wisdom, Acherontas are here joined by a whole host of incredible guest musicians, including members of Abigor, Malign, Nightbringer, Black Seas of Infinity, Emme Ya, and Tatir amongst others. What results is a shockingly bold, daring vision of black metal: Ma IoN (Formulas of Reptilian Unification). Hear all of it for yourself exclusively here, courtesy of the UK's longest-running extreme metal mag, Terrorizer. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Gloson premiere new track at

Today, post-metal upstarts Gloson premiere the epic new track "The Aftermath/Beginning" at heavily trafficked web-portal The track hails from Gloson's forthcoming debut album, Yearwalker, set for international release on March 23rd via Art of Propaganda and Catatonic State. Post-metal might be a very millennial creation, with peaks and valleys of creativity across an expansive spectrum, but fire still rumbles down below and newcomers can still offer new twists on an oft-tired subgenre. Enter Sweden's Gloson and their Yearwalker debut. Originally self-released digitally last year, the mini-album is now being released on vinyl LP to show the international metal scene how much that fire still rumbles down below. At a taut yet spacious 32 minutes, Yearwalker displays a young band with a veteran's grasp of sludgy, sometimes-sinister post-metal. The four songs comprising the record are mini-epics in themselves: often crushing right out of the gate, other times simmering with delicious tension, always with deft 'n' subtle shifts in dynamics, and all recorded in warm, molten analog. There's a certain autumnal melancholy to Gloson's ruminations here, guiding the listener across vistas of grey skies, leafless trees, and the waning light of the day. As both a debut and a work in itself, Gloson's Yearwalker arrives fully formed and firmly confident. Hear the first evidence for yourself exclusively here, courtesy of Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Gloson's Yearwalker
1. Årsgång
2. Sirens
3. The End/Aftermath
4. The Aftermath/Beginning

Gloson started as a result of a couple of individuals striving to get out of an emotional storm by writing music influenced by music, art, and legends who talked them through life. Ideas became creations, and creations became Yearwalker. The desire to escape reality, into a world both dark as light, brought creativity to put together four songs and, then on a DIY level, record them and drop them as a free digital album.

Gloson lineup:
Anders - guitars & vocals
Christian - guitars, vocals, and drums
Kristoffer - bass & backing vocals
Mikael - guitars

Codas to release debut album via Crowquill Records

Crowquill Records is pleased to announce that they will be releasing the debut EP of Codas, the post-metal project from Mario Quintero of Sleep Lady and Spotlights. The EP, which is titled Currents, is projected to be released in the spring of 2015.

Currents will consist of 4 tracks and is recommended for fans of bands such as Jesu, Nadja and Old Man Gloom.

Label CEO BJ Dierkes had the following to say about the signing:

"Codas is one of those projects that comes along out of nowhere and just kicks you right in the gut. Their debut EP “Currents” hits a sweet spot across an entire spectrum of influences and genres that have been masterfully melded together. This stuff is on a whole other level, and we’re stoked to be working with them."

The label has released a teaser trailer for the album which can be viewed below.

The album cover for Currents can be seen below:

About Codas:

Codas is the solo project from New York-based Mario Quintero of Sleep Lady and Spotlights. A year after relocating from San Diego, CA, Codas began as an experiment in not overthinking things, as well as not being concerned with any specific sound or genre. Their debut EP "Currents" (Crowquill 2015) displays elements of post-rock, noise, and even the math-ier side of 90s post-hardcore, laced with influences of industrial, doom, and black metal.

Monsterworks' 'The Existential Codex' out today

Monsterworks' The Existential Codex is out today on Eat Lead & Die Music. The six-track digital version is available as a free download . The 73-minute CD comes with bonus tracks, as well as Blu-Ray of 5.1 Surround and HD stereo mixes on the UK group's Bandcamp page. Another in a long line of super metal masterpieces, The Existential Codex is also available for purchase here.

Vocalist/Guitarist Jon Higgs had this to say about the album:

"The Existential Codex is a natural progression from our previous release, Overhaul, and picks up/expands various ideas from that and, in fact, the last several albums. Musically, we are pushing our boundaries in all directions, although it is definitely metal at its heart. Lyrically, there is some kind of abstract story weaving through the album with a meaning that is a mystery to everyone involved, including me. As always with Monsterworks there is a common theme but no definitive answers. Nevertheless, hopefully The Existential Codex will spark some independent thought along the way."

"From a technical standpoint this is the first time we have successfully gone all the way with a 5.1 surround mix, which I believe is an interesting way to listen to music and opens up new possibilities. Not only that, it is worth mentioning that we strive to maintain dynamic range in metal and James Plotkin helped out again with a mastering job on the main stereo mix which does not crush the life out of it. If you know about the 'Loudness War', you know what I mean and, in fact, any true metal head should make it their business to demand the best possible source material for their headbanging pleasure."

We have rehearsed a lot to improve the band's groove and versatile output; the style has evolved a lot, as you can hear. This time, there will be influences from progressive rock, old '80s heavy metal, and early death metal, too - all the music we have listened from the early years of the 1980s. Seagrave set release date for Art of Propaganda debut, features Harakiri For The Sky member

Always on the hunt for the most daring 'n' defiant hybrids in heavy metal, Art of Propaganda is proud to present the debut album of Seagrave, Stabwound, set for international release on April 27th. Although a very new name, formed in 2014, Seagrave is actually the solo-project of Harakiri for the Sky's J.J., whose band released the critically acclaimed Aokigahara last year via Art of Propaganda. Here with Stabwound, J.J. in Seagrave seeks to meld shoegazing black metal, melodic post-hardcore, and D-beat death metal...and does so, with dazzling results. From blistering beginning to mournful end, Stabwound winds its way through a kaleidoscopic, sometimes-caustic array of colors, each song a patiently unfolding epic that uniquely spans a wide swath of sonic territory. Some will point to this sound as being rather nouveau, but J.J.'s roots in black metal stretch back to the mid-2000s with Hoffnungstod and then the subsequent Karg; thus, his integration of black metal tropes into other, seemingly disparate musical bedfellows is both authentic and daring. What results is a record that strives for catharsis, by any musical means necessary - after all, its central lyrical themes are the downsides of life like estrangement, broken relationships, depression, and drug abuse - and explodes with emotive, genuinely heart-wrenching violence. Healing from Stabwound will not be an easy process... The first samples of such can be heard here and here. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Seagrave's Stabwound
1. Pillage de tombe
2. Pistanthrophobia
3. Harvest in June
4. Manifest XII
5. Down with the Wolves
6. Bonjour Tristesse

Conceived By Hate: Exclusive stream of "Embrace The Absurd"

El Salvadoran death thrashers Conceived By Hate have debuted another monster track from the Coalition of Death split release. "Embrace the Absurd" is streaming exclusively at this location.

Album cut "Hypocritical Sense of Ego" is also streaming exclusively here.

On March 10 Morbid Skull Records will release a double dose of destruction entitled
Coalition of Death, a split release featuring El Salvador's Conceived By Hate and Colombia's Akheron. The album will be limited 500 hand-numbered copies, including 50 diehard versions with extras. Stream "Devotees of Death" from Conceived By Hate at this location and "Estigma" from Akheron right here.

Death thrashers Conceived By Hate begins the sinister proceedings with three original slash 'n burners and an incendiary rendition of Dissection's "Thorns of Crimson Death." Formed in 2002 by Morbid Skull Records owner and guitarrist/vocalist Jorge Montesino (Disorder, Morbid Stench) with co-founders Carlos Basagoitia and Rene Vega, the El Salvadoran unit leaves behind nothing but scorched earth with their contribution. Conceived By Hate is currently working on its next full-length album and is in the midst of planning a European invasion.

The second half of the split features the sonic mayhem and savagery for Akheron's Violent Thrash! Featuring four tracks, including a wicked cover of Misfit's "Where Eagles Dare," Akheron continues their eardrum shattering assault with lyrical themes on the originals of existentialism, mental degradation, mankind's warring territorial obsessions, and the continual downward spiral of what others might call daily life. Launched in 2003, Akheron is led by founder/composer/vocalist/guitarist Juan Guerra who along with bassist Julie Gomez, drummer Luis Galeano, and guitarist Jonathan Jimenez seeks only to destroy.

Track List:
1. Devotees of Death [Conceived by Hate]
2. Hypocritical Sense of Ego [Conceived by Hate]
3. Embrace the Absurd [Conceived by Hate]
4. Thorns of Crimson Death (Dissection cover) [Conceived by Hate]
5. Estigma [Akheron]
6. Chemtrail [Akheron]
7. In-conformista [Akheron]
8. Where Eagles Dare (Misfits cover) [Akheron]

New Blackout album on RidingEasy Records / stream new song 'Human' exclusively via Noisey

This March Brooklyn’s self-proclaimed “pillars of rock and roll righteousness” will release their new, self-titled album through Los Angeles’ equally badass record label RidingEasy Records.

Blackout was initially formed by guitar player/vocalist Christian Gordy and drummer Taryn Waldman at Gordy’s July 4th cookout in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York back in 2011. Waldman, a former Hooter's waitress turned big time commercial film editor and Gordy; a one-legged bartender/artist/BBQ enthusiast were (by their own admission) something of an oddball couple for NY's rigid metal scene. Yet with no direction and zero discussion both connected instantly and instinctively began banging out massive caveman jams against a patriotic backdrop of food, alcohol and the stars and stripes.

In fact as far as names go, choosing Blackout – suggesting a power crash, sudden and temporary loss of consciousness or a mob hit on an entire family – was a total no brainer.

In the months that followed the pair recruited close friend Justin Sherrell on bass duties, and as things began to get louder and considerably heavier in November 2012 the trio entered Vacation Island Studio with engineer and producer Rob Laakso (Diamond Nights, Swirlies, Kurt Vile) to record their debut release We Are Here. Choosing to self-release the album on vinyl in early 2013 it garnered plenty of acclaim from some of the hottest blogs du jour and was praised for its Melvins-esque ferocity and pounding Sleep-like groves. “Blackout get it right, hammering jam after jam, pound after pound. The smoky swirls buzz with electric accusations and shock-therapy repressions.” (Heavy Planet)

Following an extensive gigging regime in, around and way beyond New York’s city limits with acts like Acid King, Weedeater and Trouble the band took to the studio once again in the summer of 2013 to record a body of new songs. Songs that strictly worked off the riffs spontaneously summoned during practice sessions where old material was revived, ideas hashed out and sounds reworked into the record you will soon hear in full. Songs that make up Blackout, the band’s eagerly awaited follow up and soon to be released revelation on RidingEasy Records.

Blackout by Blackout will be released worldwide on RidingEasy Records on 31st March 2015 and the band will be throwing an official album release party at Union Pool, Brooklyn on Saturday April 11th.

Listen and stream new song 'Human' exclusively via Noisey here.

Reach 'Reach Out To Rock' cover artwork, track listing revealed, tour announced

02. Fortune & Fame
03. Tell Me
04. We Are
05. Someone Like You
06. The Beast
07. Make Me Believe
08. Reach Out
09. Looking For Love
10. Coming Home

The album was mixed by sound maestro Pontus Norgren from Hammerfall and Poodles. Recorded & produced by Erik Modin & Johannes Hennoks. Artwork design by Morgan Hassel.

In March 2015 the band will join Gus G on his Swedish tour as well as Eclipse on their UK tour – and not to forget a slot on HRH AOR FESTIVAL.

Reach are:
Alex Waghorn – Vocals
Ludvig Turner – Guitars
David Jones – Bass
Marcus Johansson – Drums

Reach was put together in 2012 by drummer Marcus Johansson and guitarist Ludvig Turner. Together they started looking for band members to complete the group, and found the remaining band members in bass player David Jones and vocalist Alex Waghorn. Among the first thing Reach did to reveal this new rock band was to arrange a hard rock cover of Avicii’s super hit ”Wake me up” in August 2013. A huge success and about one year later the video has over 1.000.000 views and still counting.

Reach’s music can be described as classic rock with strong melodies and hooks, complemented by their youth energy. You can hear influences from Whitesnake, Scorpions,Europe and Gary Moore in the songs. Ludvig also put the melodic rock on the map in Swedish television in 2014 by making his own interpretations of major hits and being among the final four in the Swedish Idol contest.

The band released early 2014 a single “Black Lady” to show their song writing abilities and proved not being just a cover band. In December 2014 having secured a deal with Sun Hill Production they released a first single “You Called My Name” from the forthcoming album “Reach Out To Rock”.

Despite their young age, Reach are already experienced festival performers, having played festivals as HRH (UK), Frontiers (IT), Väsby Rock (SE), Skogsröjet (SE).

Australian doom lords The Slow Death to release 'Ark' on Chaos Records March 16

Mexico's Chaos Records is proud to announce the upcoming release of Ark, the new album from Sydney's The Slow Death on March 16. The mournful new epic follows hot the heels of band's 2014 Chaos Records split release with Majestic Downfall. Ark will be released as a limited edition (1,000 copies) 6-panel digipak with 16-page booklet. The album can be pre-ordered at this location.

Stream new track "The Chosen Ones":

Ark crawls along the bottom of humanity's vast ocean of misery through six masterfully arranged tracks of Funeral Doom. The sense of dread is omnipresent, yet so is the dark, chilling beauty of compositions that are surprisingly varied. Whether the stunning contrast of Gregg Williamson's cavernous growl to Mandy Andresen's (Murkrat) ghostly croon, the seamless movement between crushing riffs and melancholic picking, or the bleak, windswept keyboard soundscapes, the one certainty is that Ark is destined to be among 2015's most celebrated doom releases.
